“You are the salt of the earth, but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled under peoples' feet. You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden.  Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house.  In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven." Matthew 5: 13-16

In this age of technology, we can easily be inundated with information and details of events going on around the world. So much of it can be intriguing, captivating, engaging, yet have no relevance to our lives. But it is there on the world wide web, ready for you to read about at any time. What we also have is the guidance of the words of Jesus to help us navigate through all that information overload. You are the light of the world. We are to let our light SHINE! And by doing that, others may also find the light of Christ and come to the Father. How glorious that is. How AWESOME it is to be a beacon of assurance to others that they too may know God and choose eternal life through Him. And I see that light our Richmond Emmaus community has through serving on a team, bringing other Christians on their walks, committing to reunion/accountability groups. Also, by coming to this Saturday’s gathering at the CHANCO.

Over 80 of you said “yes” to me and that really inspires me with the fire you still have burning inside you. This gathering is exciting because we will see the facilities and grounds that will host R-145’s walk weekend, eat lunch together, sing (oh, we will SING!), worship, praise, and have communion. Our time together will be joyous.

Here is the schedule for Saturday and the address:

395 Floods Drive, Spring Grove, VA 23881

For non-GPS directions: Go east on Rt. 10 past Hopewell for about 20 miles. After the Family Dollar store, turn left onto Swann’s Point Road. Go about 5 miles and turn left into the entrance at CHANCO.

  • 11:00-12:00, arrive and view the facilities and grounds, relax and enjoy the views
  • 12:00-12:30, music, announcements, blessing song before lunch in the Spirit Center (indoors)
  • 12:30-1:30, lunch
  • 1:30-3:00, music, gathering, communion, departure

It should be cool and windy so dress to be comfortable outside, but we will spend our time together inside. Seats are provided but you are welcome to bring something to sit on if you like.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

  • The women’s team of R-145 are now teaming and they are asking for small groups in our community to prepare dinner meals for them for the next several (5?) teamings. Please contact Kerry Thomas for details at 757-650-5742; email kerrykthomas@gmail.com
  • The April women’s walk still has spots available for pilgrims. This will be the ONLY womens' walk for this year, so anyone you want to invite to go on their Walk to Emmaus, please reach out to them and have them complete the application, preferably online. We need those by April 11.  Otherwise, the next womens' walk weekend will be in the Spring of 2026. The team can host up to 20 pilgrims so let us make the invitation.
  • The mens' Fall Walk is Sept. 25-28 and we are taking applications for team members and pilgrims. If you want to serve on this team, complete the application form (link below) and you will be contacted. If you are new to the community or have not served on an Emmaus team (inside team or outside team), this is a blessed opportunity to serve the next pilgrims and show the light of Christ that is within you. Sponsors for pilgrims can use the link below to access the online pilgrim application. Keep the love and light of Christ burning in you and share that fire with other believers.
