May Gathering and Message

May Gathering and ZOOM Meeting

I hope this message finds everyone in your circle doing well. Our Governor announced steps to end the shutdown yesterday and start a path back to normal. During this difficult time, I try to take time to reflect on the many blessings in my life as I am sure you have as well.

In a recent study published last December in Perspectives on Psychological Science, four factors were identified as having an impact on early death in our world – air pollution, obesity, excessive drinking, and loneliness.  According to the study, the factor that had the greatest impact was loneliness. To my surprise living with loneliness elevated the risk of early mortality by 45 percent! Over 40 percent of Americans report feeling lonely in the study.

Richmond Emmaus has been that “city built on a hill” for over 30 years and while we all are facing new and unprecedented challenges from COVID 19, now more than ever we are all called to shine the loving light of Christ like never before and cast out the shadows of loneliness.  Ephesians 4:12  “to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up”

This Saturday at 7 PM we will be having our second virtual gathering by zoom that will last less than 60 minutes.

Over 80 people joined us last month and we want to see you this month.

2 Prayer Request Need

Prayer Request #1
Kathleen White’s mother passed today after heart surgery. Please keep Ron and Kathleen in prayer during this difficult time.

Prayer Request #2 My  97 yr old father is in the hospital facing his final hours after a massive brain bleed. I am able to be with him and help family members say goodbye via phone. My mom, his wife of 72 years, is in an assisted living facility and not able to be with us, but her faith is strong. He is a faithful, faithful, loving man who will be greatly missed and celebrated by our family. Would you please pray on his behalf?
Thank you!

Prayer request for Benjamin Barbee

Hello Friends,

I invite you to please pause and pray for Benjamin Barbee who is about to undergo an important swallowing test very soon.  Please pray that Benjamin will be able to swallow on is his own, if he passes this test, he will not need to have a feeding tube surgically placed in his abdomen. This will help in his future rehab and surgical procedures.

Thank you, prayer warriors!

Candlelight

Good Afternoon,  It is day 1 for Richmond 134 Women’s walk so please continue to pray for the team, pilgrims and their families the next 3 days and beyond.

Please join us for Candlelight on Saturday. We start Gathering at 7:30 to sign the place mats and worship will start around 8. As we reflect on the impact candlelight had on us, spread the word to others in the community and invite them to attend.

The location is the Virginia Nazarene Retreat Center, 1151 High School Road, Buckingham, VA 23921

Matthew 5- 14-16
“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”

God Bless

Prayer Request

Everyone,

I ask for prayers for my mom, Sarah Collins as she goes through surgery tomorrow (Feb. 25) to remove a cancerous lump.  Please pray for guidance for the surgeon, and all medical personnel involved with this procedure, that they may remove all the cancerous cells.  Pray for God to grant her speedy recovery from this procedure, and (if it be His will) that she will not have any re-occurrence.

May God pour out His blessings on you all.
