Working Board Announcements

New Board Members!

At the November Gathering, the Richmond Emmaus Community elected the following members to serve on the Working Board in the 2020–2022 term: Lori Alford, Cody Dedmon, Shawn Holt, Anne Moseley (lay members), and Bob Moseley (clergy member). In addition, we have an opening for another clergy member. Clergy who would be interested in this role should contact Rev. Mark Rooks, our Community Spiritual Director.

Thank you to the following lay members who have served for the past three years and whose terms are ending in December: Jim Attaway, Patrick Phillips, and Mary Riemer.

Thank you to all who offered to serve, and to all who elected our newest Board members!

Reductions in Sponsoring and Teaming Fees Announced!

Due to reduced expenses at the Virginia Nazarene Camp, the Richmond Emmaus Board has voted to adjust Walk fees for 2020 as follows:

Pilgrim application fee — $50.
Sponsorship fee  — $150.
Teaming fee — $175.

Scholarships are available for teaming and sponsorship fees; these must be requested in advance and in writing from the Board Treasurer, who will present them to the Board for approval.

CLD Message for November

When I was a child, my parents used to tell us, “There is safety in numbers,” “Stick together,” and “Take a friend wherever you go.” Now that I am much farther ahead in years and have decades of life behind me, I see how wise these words are for our faith journeys and everyday life. Our friends, pastors, and mentors who walk with us on the ups and downs of life, through our struggles, joys and everyday life, make a difference that cannot be measured … and we are the same to them as well.

This is one of the best parts of Emmaus.  When I walked in June 2000, nearly 20 years ago, I met ladies who God used to change my life. Some I still spend time with now; we are sisters together in faith and I am grateful.

This month we welcome dozens of new Community members. Let’s become family together — sisters, brothers, and friends in faith — so that in 20 years each one can say, “We still spend time together — and I am grateful.”

Our next 4th Day Training will be held at 4:00 pm this Saturday, November 9, 2019 in Room 103 at Bethia UMC, on Winterpock Rd in Chesterfield. Gathering begins at 6:00 with a potluck meal; then we will worship with music, share a devotional and communion — and welcome the new Community members from R-132 and R-133! Childcare for our Gathering will be provided by Bethia’s Safe Sanctuaries-certified staff.

Welcome to the Community, sisters and brothers of R-132 and R-133. You are welcome here!

Setup Help Needed for November Gathering

Dear Emmaus Community,

I am reaching out to get some help in November with putting up tables and chairs for our Gathering. We have no one signed up, and need some of our great Community people to help us out — anyone who could arrive around 5:15 at Bethia and help get this done will be appreciated. If you can, please let me know by emailing eljetslib@gmail.com.
