A message from CLD Rob Heare

As I sat down to write this I looked at a beautiful sunrise and heard the birds singing. What a beautiful reminder of the Blessings that God provides us each day! How often do we take these for granted?

Reflect back on your Walk. Were you anxious, excited, emotional? No doubt you experienced all of those feelings. Now think about what your life would be like had someone not given you the opportunity to experience The Walk to Emmaus!

In the Christian Action talk, we are told to “Make a Friend, Be a Friend, Bring a Friend to Christ.” In 2 Corinthians 5:18-20 we are called to be Ambassadors for Christ. We have many opportunities for you to be that Ambassador. Following is a list of what is coming up in our community. Please pray about how you can serve … about whom Christ is calling you to give an application to, for the same opportunity that someone gave you. Also, as we are going back to separate Spring and Fall Walks, we need inside and outside team applications. Don’t wait until the last minute!

Upcoming Walks: All will be held at the Virginia Nazarene Camp, 11151 High School Road, Buckingham, Virginia:

R-129 (Fall Men) – Oct.11-14, 2018
R-130 (Spring Women) – March 14-17, 2019
R-131 (Spring Men) – March 21-24, 2019

Fourth Day Training – August 11, Room 103 at Bethia UMC. Contact Rachel Pack, rtpack1@comcast.net, if you have questions. Remember that your duties as Sponsor and Table Leader do not stop once the weekend is over. Please follow up and invite your Pilgrims to this, if they have not attended.

Nominations for your Emmaus Board. Contact Mary Riemer at marycriemer@gmail.com if you are interested or you would like to nominate someone. Also, if you would be interested in helping with the printing that is needed for each weekend please contact Mary.

We need help with setup and cleanup for Gathering in the months of Sept., Nov., and Dec. Please contact me at robandabby1978@gmail.com if you can do that.

I will close with the prayer I handed out at Gathering:

“Lord, as I enter the water to bathe, I remember my baptism.
Wash me by your grace. Fill me with your Spirit. Renew my soul.
I pray that I might live as your child today and honor you in all that I do.”

I hope to see you at Gathering on Saturday, the 14th. Bring a Friend!

Take care and God Bless,
Rob
